the main story of Hypnospace Outlaw.

Zane Lofton or ZANE_ROCKS_14 is a Hypnospace user on Teentopia and a character in Hypnospace Outlaw. He is the subject of Case #2 and an optional additional case. He is most known for being Hypnospace's resident cool dude.

Projects[]

Got Game or Way Lame[]

Got Game or Way Lame is a secret page in Teentopia, acting as a game show where Zane himself decides whether the people around him are cool ("Got Game") or not ("Way Lame"). The page mainly acts as a vessel for harassment, where Zane makes fun of people he doesn't like, such as Corey or Tiffany.

His page is discovered by The Dumpster where they award him a Chaos Award. Zane is overjoyed to be featured on The Dumpster, an underground comedy site, not aware that it is satirizing him.

Big Z Studios Comics: Slayers X[]

Slayers X is a series of self-drawn comics created by Zane through Big Z Studios Comics. It is a story starring Zane himself, as he discovers his secret inner powers and teams up with Seepage lead singer to save the world from evil demons. Only three issues were ever seen by the player.

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer[]

When Zane was 16, he and his friend Adam Chase decided to create a game based around the Slayers X comics, though at one point, they stopped development. Later, in 2022, Zane decided to continue with development after he and Chase found a CD with a copy of a development version of the game, and on June 1 of the next year, Zane (Now with his company "Big Z Studios Inc.") released the finished result to the public.

Jessica White[]

Jessica White is not a real person, and in fact, a fake user he created and pretends is his girlfriend. Zane even creates a page for "her".

Personal Life[]

History[]

As his username indicates, Zane likely first got on Hypnospace when he was 14. Sometime before November 5 began a feud with Corey, who he mocks on his Got Game or Way Lame page. His page is awarded a Chaos Award from The Dumpster.

At some point between November 5 and November 26, Corey and Zane "break up" with their fake girlfriends and try propositioning Tiffany which does not work. Between November 26 and December 31, his page is hacked by T1MAGEDDON, redesigned to be stereotypically girly instead of his normal macho persona. A lot of personal information is also revealed from his page getting hacked, such as the fact that his mom struggles to make ends meet working at a gas station, and that his mom's boyfriend pays for his Hypnospace.

Zane is one of the possible deaths in the Mindcrash, though he canonically survives, as revealed by the DreamSettler trailer[1]. If he does die, however, Dylan Merchant's eulogy for him read "You could've become someone your mother was proud of. I'm sorry Zane."

Sexual Harassment to DarkTwilightTiff[]

Zane is a jerk. He is often found harassing other users through his Got Game or Way Lame page. One interaction with DarkTwilightTiff shows him overstepping his boundaries, sexually harassing her through unwelcome sexual advances in ChitChat in a juvenile attempt at seducing her, and immediately getting angry when she is disturbed by his messages. Upset that he got rejected by a real girl, he makes a Got Game or Way Lame attack page out of Tiff, which led to Tim hacking Zane's page in revenge.

Personality is a Joke[]

Zane is also shown to think highly of himself, calling himself "awesome" and often exaggerating his abilities, trying to make himself look much cooler than he supposedly is.

In the Hypnospace PLUS update, Zane figures out how to get a FLIST page by late November, and uses it to host both of the Seepage songs the player can hear on his page. He points out that his mirrors of the songs are dubiously safe to post as the band has yet to issue a takedown notice to Merchantsoft.

Post-Mindcrash[]

Years after the Mindcrash, Zane has become overweight and is revealed to be a "Deadbeat Dollar Store Manager" who "Has a kid and thinks this gamereferring to the Slayers X game is his ticket out" by Adam Chase, Zane's high school friend who (unwillingly) helped him develop the game, which was revealed to be nothing more than a total-conversion mod for the FPS game Kataklysm[2].

Trivia[]

  • Zane is one of the two possible users to save from the Mindcrash. He can be saved by reporting him for his Got Game or Way Lame page, which can be reported for harassment again after the second time skip. If you fail to report and flag it the second time, he will only be given a warning rather than being properly banned.
  • Zane has a Twitter account, @Zane_Rocks_36[3], where he posts updates on his game, Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer[4], and his personal life. Some of the information gathered from his Twitter is:
    • He survived the 2K Mindcrash after being banned due to his actions. At the time, he was participating in the 48-hour Hypno-space challenge and could have won the $100,000 prize. He blames the player for his lack of financial standing because of this loss. This challenge, however, was possibly fake due to the poster being one of Jezzo's FLIST files[5].
    • He is 38.
    • He has a 3-4 year-old son named Mikey[6]. He is a single parent as Mikey's birthmother broke up with Zane, but he still keeps in touch with her.
    • His Mother's Boyfriend is called Kevin Daniels. He and Zane's mother have stayed in a relationship since Zane was 16, despite him cheating on her three different times. He is noted to be quite wealthy, owning both Cottonwood Square, where the Dollar$aver Zane works at is located, and Happy Birthday Hotel. He lives in a large house and paid for Zane's Hypnospace access before the Mindcrash, possibly to appease him as Zane revealed a great dislike towards him, calling him "a motherflippin moron"[7].
    • Used to work graveyard shifts at Dollar$aver in his hometown Boise[8], where he often steals from[9]. He was eventually promoted to store manager after Kevin had quit[10].
    • Has an uncle called Gopher (Real name Geoff) [11] and is considered a "Ladies man" by Zane[12]. Zane previously visited his house during the summers before it was sold[13].
    • Had another uncle named Frank who had passed on, Zane plans to add a tribute to him on the first level of the game[14].
    • He is close friends with Adam Chase, the programmer who works on Slayers X, and had attended the same high school together[15]. They had found the game burned in an old CD and picked up development[16].
    • When the Hypnospace archive became public, many made fun of his old comics. However, through this, he had gotten the attention of Mikey Sykey, the frontman of Seepage, who had sent Zane an email allowing the usage of Seepage's songs and even offered to make a new song for the game[17].
    • He had gotten kicked out of his childhood home (most likely by the landlord). As a result, some of his comics and his old seepage poster got thrown out[18].
